No Daddy--no eat Momma

And so our kiss was interrupted by the child thinking Daddy was trying to eat me.

Kiss it!

So there are a couple of you who read here that I KNOW have heard this story. But I love it and want to make sure I don't forget this sweet stage. Isla is in the "kiss it and make it better" phase. Momma and Daddy can cure anything with a kiss to the affected area (and it's symmetrical counterpart). We're also in a "hyped up before bed" stage and a "try to jump all the time stage." Recently I had her on my lap trying to get her dressed for bed after her bath. She was hyper and trying to do acrobatics on my lap. I was worried that she was going to fall so about the second or third time I got on to her, I swatted her tush (seriously, we spank her much harder when we're playing with her than the few times we do so when she's in trouble). Her little eyes got big, she looked shocked, pouted out her lip, pushed out her hip to turn her backside towards me, and said "kiss it! kiss it!"

Love that little girl!!

Pics, stories, and vacation memories!

Trying to do a month of blogging in one evening....After I did the first post with a few pictures, Blogger wouldn't let me do another post like that so I had to go through Picasa to export pics to the blogs. Not sure why, but that's why all the separate posts.

I didn't think I was getting any good pics of Harrison--little guy moves like a monkey and I didn't think I was catching anything, but I ended up with several I liked. I got a few good ones of Henry too. Love those guys and wish they lived closer!

Ugh!

What happened to the LONG post I was writing yesterday morning on my phone? Ugh. It was just tidbits of things I want to record. Let's see if I can remember some of them.

We just got back from visiting friends in NW Arkansas for vacation. We broke up the driving so that we didn't have to do more than 3 or 3 1/2 hours a day. We had a couple episodes of carsickness, but overall, Isla did GREAT! Some days nap-time wasn't until 2 or 3 in the afternoon--one day she totally missed a nap--but she was a real trooper. She went to her first ballgame--Katina had her yelling "Run like a man!" at the field. Daddy taught her that "that guy" was going to throw the ball and "that guy" was going to try to hit it and run. Oh, and she and Daddy shared some peanuts and she kept exclaiming "I LOVE peanuts!"

She also had her first pony ride on vacation. She was interested in the ponies, but initially Daddy took her over there and she wouldn't even sit on the horse. We watched a couple other little kids ride and then she let me take her over to Lightning and set her on it. She was getting ready to fuss and I motioned to the girl to go. As soon as we started moving, she was fine although she didn't let go of me the entire ride.

She also got to feed a baby goat a bottle. She loved that. We went to a couple drive-through safaris with petting areas, a wild cat santuary, the Tulsa Zoo, and Oklahoma Aquarium. An animal filled week! She also did well at a church service at Thorn Crown Chapel, at the art museum, shopping in the old downtown area of Eurkeka Springs (where she got to ride a trolley--she called it a bus), and all the places we ate at--including the place that was much more bar than restaurant. :-)

Henry and Harrison's favorite elephant at Tulsa Zoo is Sneezy so we sat and watched Sneezy awhile. That evening I asked her what her little elephant's name is. At first she said "A-choo" but then she started saying it's Sneezy. She hasn't forgotten in the past 3 days--the little pink elephant is still Sneezy.

Speaking of not forgetting--we had to go see the NP at our doctor's office a few weeks ago. She told J that she had an elephant in her right ear, a bee in her left ear (there have been bees in her ears for awhile), a hippo in each eye, and a monkey up her nose. She's been consistent with this story for awhile now--even which animal is in which ear. She's also added a duck in her mouth.

One of my favorite parts of vacation was the Splash Pad that Kelly from Kelly's Korner writes about. Such a great evening--the weather was perfect, we took salads to picnic on the benches, we played in the water, then we went walking in Compton Gardens before heading back to our hotel.

Not vacation related--one of the sweetest things is how Isla wants boo-boos kissed. I know lots of kids go through that stage--if only momma's kisses would always make things better. But one of the funniest things she's done lately was after I swatted her little bare butt the other day when she wouldn't stop trying to jump off my lap. "Uh! Uh! Kiss it!!" and she jutted that little hip out to turn her butt to me.

Speaking of jumping, Isla can't get both feet off the ground when she jumps. This is one of the milestones on Ages and Stages and she's missing points for it. Now, she's actually missing points for not jumping up and points for not jumping out. She also missed points for not alternating feet on steps when going up and down steps--I blame this one on her little short legs and feet. :-) Anyway, it's become a joke that she'll finish her dissertation before she learns to jump.

I know there were other things I wanted to document. Hopefully I can remember and type then in other posts before I forget. Meanwhile, I'll add another post with some pics from vacation.
